- Single-Table Poker Tournaments (also called STT's) are usually comprised of one table and are not scheduled. A sit & go poker tournament will start as soon as all the seats are filled and the prizepool is fixed.
Some sit & go tournaments are available 24-7 and some (like the special satellite tournaments) are only available at certain times of day. - Multi-Table Poker Tournaments (also called MTT's) are scheduled in advance of the poker tournament start time and players must register in order to participate. As the tournament progresses and players are eliminated, the tables are consolidated until one "final table" in reached. Play will continue until someone wins.
- Freeroll Poker Tournaments are exactly like a Multi-Table Poker Tournament except there is no buy-in fee to enter. In other words, players can enter for free and win money! Some freeroll tournaments have requirements (such as player points) and others have none.
