Ways to Keep Your Pooch From Going Bald
We hear a lot about human hair loss, because it's a subject that is of concern to a lot of people; however, we don't hear so much about the fact that dogs can have times in their lives when they lose their hair, too. Until a time when your pooch starts showing up with bald patches and you're finding tons of dog hair all around your house, you may not even know that such a condition exists. Most dogs will go through this condition at some point or another. It's important as an owner to recognize your dog has a problem and get him the treatment he needs as soon as possible.
Canine hair loss isn't usually cause for alarm. To be safe though, you may want to have your dog checked out by a vet. Your dog can lose his hair for many different reasons. There are various conditions the vet can check for:
Nervous stress or boredom, Canine atopy, Demodectic mange, Food allergies, and Ringworm.
Various conditions will need to be treated in different ways. If your dog has a food allergy, you could try switching brands or changing the diet entirely. Genes can cause dogs to develop canine atopy. To help get rid of the yeast and bacteria causing problems on your dog, various shampoos and creams would need to be used to treat the condition.
Some hair loss factors can be treated with topical ointments. Hot spots, ringworm, and flea infestations are examples of conditions that can be treated with topical ointments. Hot spots causes a dog to bite and scratch an area enough to make it turn raw. Your dog may need an anti-inflammatory injection in order to relieve the condition.
Dogs can develop two different types of manage that can cause hair loss. One of these forms is demodectic mange will leads to a bacterial infection. This condition in dogs can be treated with Mitaban dips or ivermectin. The other type is sarcopic mange which is transmitted via parasites which burrow under your dog's skin to cause unbearable itching. Ivermectin by injection or pills can be used to treat this condition.
Dogs can also lose their hair because of excessive nervousness, a common problem in various terrier breeds. You would need to seek help from a vet in order to treat this condition. It's important that the vet rule out other causes of the hair loss. Doc No.azlcssaeh-sdgfhkl
